Grief is such a deeply personal and painful process.
The enormity of it can be overwhelming and often it can seem easier to ignore it and push those feelings of pain and loss down. We tell ourselves that it it will be better and more beneficial for us to not grieve, to ignore our feelings and pretend we’re not in pain.
It is understandable why we’d think this way but like any other grief or big emotions and life events, that doesn’t work and here’s why:
Those feelings of loss and sadness are there whether you acknowledge them or not. By ignoring the pain, you are not moving past it, you are just delaying the process of dealing with it.
The pain of your loss won’t go away and even if it takes years, it will be triggered at some stage and it will cause you hurt. Unresolved grief can be very difficult and overwhelming.
Trying to forget about your loss means trying to forget about your loved one. By not allowing yourself to think about them, you are denying yourself all of those wonderful memories and all of the love you felt. That love is one of the things that will get you through your grief and bring you comfort.
I know it is hard and incredibly painful. I’m here for you.If you’d like to explore this further, I offer a FREE consultation which you can book here. This is to make sure that I’m the right fit for you.
